3 injured in 3-vehicle pile-up in Paducah, Kentucky

On a normal day, you'd never expect to get into a car crash. You plan to do everything the same: You get into your vehicle, go to work or school and go home. You don't plan to get hurt.

When a car crash happens, it can lead to significant injuries for those involved. When more than one vehicle is part of a crash, the likelihood of injuries increases with each impact.

Take, for example, this case out of Paducah, where three people were hurt in a three-vehicle collision on Clark River Road. The police reported that the crash, which occurred on Nov. 19, happened when a 47-year-old man rear-ended a 59-year-old man's vehicle while he was sitting at a red light. That man is an inspector with the Paducah Fire Department's Code Enforcement Division.

When the 59-year-old man's vehicle was struck, it then continued on and collided with another vehicle, which was being driven by a 70-year-old man. The 70-year-old man complained of neck pain following the incident, while the 59-year-old man suffered more significant injuries in the collision. Both men had to be taken to the hospital for treatment, while the driver alleged to be at fault sought treatment on his own.

Crashes like this one are often a result of distractions. The man who allegedly caused this crash stated that he was looking at his radio and hadn't seen the red light. Just a few seconds looking away from the road is all it takes to cause a crash, which is something that is completely avoidable with a little foresight.
